1. IMPORTANT NOTES
Welcome to Hitbase 98.
Hitbase 98 is SHAREWARE. If you wish to
continue using Hitbase 98 after the 30-day test-period, you must obtain a full version
from Big 3 Software. Further details about pricing and ordering can be found under Help->How
to order.
1.1 Change of name
We have had to change the name of our CD-player to "Hitbase"
for legal / copyright reasons. The functionality of the programm is unaffected by
the change.
1.2 Fixed errors / new features in this release
Version 7.09.46:
- The newly opened CD-Archive located at
www.cdarchiv.de is now supported from Hitbase. Please change the settings
for the Hitbase (Internet) CD-Archive in "Options->CD-Archive"
from www.big3.de to www.cdarchiv.de
The archive located at www.big3.de isn't
supported anymore and will be deactivated soon.
- The length of a song wasn't written to the
database when importing from cdplayer.ini even if you insert the CD in the
drive. We fixed that now.
- If you double-clicked on a CD in
"Edit->Catalog" it leads to a system crash. This should be
fixed now.
- In the dialog
"Options->Plug-Ins" the list of modules wasn't reset when
choosing a new library.
- Now you can interupt Plug-Ins which
outperform your system with the ESC-Key (e.g. "Blurry Twirl").
- Added a new ACD.OCX which fixes some minor
issues and adds new features. E.g.
1. The mysterious error 175 should be fixed (hopefully).
2. Sector synchronization mode enhanced.
3. New wave output routines.
- Fixed some minor bugs in CD-cover printing.
Version 7.06.42:
- Now supports Direct-Draw plug-ins (fullscreen
mode only)
- Wave-files now will be played when clicking
on a song title in the catalogue.
- If Hitbase is minimized in the tray icon now
the options beeing choosen from the options menu will be displayed correct.
- When recording a track the resulting files
now include the artist: eg. "Spice girls - Viva forever.wav"
instead of "Viva forever.wav"
- Now fully supports CD-Extra (there were
errors whith some CD-Extras in the past)
Version 7.05.41:
- Recording of a predefined A-B sequence caused
Hitbase to crash - that won't happen anymore now.
- Now it's possible to export the "Medium"-field
(within Text-Export)
Version 7.04.40:
- There are new MFC-DLLs
included in the package - the old ones lead to incompatibilities with other
programs.
- There was a problem in the
cover-print menu: On some printers the text was printed out in the wrong
direction. That is solved now.
- While numbering filenames to
be written to disk we forgot to add leading zeros in it. Now they will be
sorted in Explorer correctly. For examle the first file of a recording now
is saved as song01.wav and no longer as song1.wav
- Now the progress bar and the
percentage-value are shown correct while showing compressed recordings.
2. New Features in Hitbase 98
The new version of Hitbase contains many new features and
improvements. Many thanks to all the users who passed on tips and suggestions to enable us
to make Hitbase even better. We have tried to include as many wishes as possible. The
biggest changes affect the database.
- Audio-Tracks can be read directly from the CD (bypassing the
sound-card). To do this you will need a CD-ROM drive supported by Hitbase (see list).
- Support for the Windows Audio Compression Manager (ACM) to
compress recorded audio-tracks (e.g. MP3).
- User-defined printing of CD-Covers. Almost every aspect of
the layout can be defined.
- Artists and CD-Sets can be managed separately. You can for
example add new artists or edit an existing one.
- The CD-archive support has been significantly enhanced,
especially for the Internet. You can choose between three different archive types. New in
this version is the support for the CDDB-archive which currently contains over 200,000
CD's (as of 06/98).
- The Loan-Manager also allows you to manage CD's that you have
loaned out.
- Further import-interfaces for Microsoft DeluxeCD (from
Windows 98 Plus! or Windows 2000).
- New, more modern CD-player user-interface.
- Hitbase 98 now supports plug-ins for its signal-processor.
This means that you can develop your own extensions for Hitbase which display the
CD-signal or the frequency-spectrum in a special form. We will provide a forum on our
Homepage for developers with documentation and examples.
- and much, much more...
